Driving positive change in the communities and sectors we serve.

Our research is driven by a mission to advance social and economic justice. We approach every project intending to break down harmful stereotypes about families living in poverty and challenging prevailing narratives that marginalize vulnerable communities.

The Family Economic Policy Lab (FEPL) of the Appalachian Institute for Health and Wellness is committed to advancing social and economic justice for vulnerable families and communities by disseminating rigorous research examining innovative policy solutions. FEPL seeks to make our research accessible to academic, policy-making, and general audiences. Currently, the lab is overseeing the evaluation of multiple large basic/guaranteed income pilots.
